How to Download Invoices from FreshBooks

FreshBooks is a popular cloud accounting software designed for small businesses and freelancers. Managing your FreshBooks subscription invoices is important for tracking software expenses. This guide will show you how to access and download invoices from your FreshBooks account.

Prerequisites

You need to be the Account Owner to access billing information and download FreshBooks subscription invoices.

Sign in to FreshBooks

Access your FreshBooks account:

  1. Go to my.freshbooks.com
  2. Sign in with your credentials
  3. Navigate to your dashboard
  4. Ensure you're the account owner

Access Account Settings

Navigate to settings:

  1. Click on your profile icon in the top right
  2. Select "My Account" from the dropdown
  3. Or navigate to Settings > My Account
  4. Look for billing or subscription options

Navigate to Billing

Find billing section:

  1. In My Account, click "Billing & Upgrade"
  2. View your current subscription plan
  3. See active features and limits
  4. Look for "Billing history" or "Invoices"

View Payment History

Access billing records:

  1. Click on "Billing history" or "View receipts"
  2. See list of all subscription payments
  3. Each shows date, amount, and plan
  4. Filter by date if needed

  2. Click "Download" or "View receipt"

Email Receipts

Access receipts via email:

  1. FreshBooks emails receipts to account owner
  2. Search email for "FreshBooks receipt"
  3. Receipts are attached as PDFs
  4. Download from email if needed

Tip: Update billing email in account settings to receive future receipts.

Common Issues & Solutions

Can't find Billing & Upgrade section

Only the Account Owner can access billing. If you're a team member or accountant, ask the account owner to provide the subscription invoices.

No billing history showing

If you're on a trial, billing history appears after your first paid charge. For new accounts, receipts may take 24-48 hours to appear after initial payment.

Receipt download not working

Check browser settings to allow downloads from freshbooks.com. Clear cache or try a different browser. You can also access receipts from your email.

Need invoice with company details for accounting

Update your billing information in Billing & Upgrade to include company name, address, and tax ID. This information will appear on future receipts.
